Painting on Fabric
Probably many of us can remember being a very young age and getting caught scribbling or painting on the walls.
Well, I must have been pretty young, I don't actually remember it, but my mom always teased me about it as I got older.
I do remember however, that I LOVED to "color" with my friend Kelly. We would spend hours with our coloring books and crayons.
I can see myself as a child, lying on the floor with my favorite coloring book, tongue sticking out, trying my hardest to
"stay within the lines."
"stay within the lines."
With that said, I think I probably still stick my tongue out sometimes when I paint!
I painted this piece on fabric with acrylic paints. To add more character and another medium I sat down at my sewing machine and free-motioned stitched all the lines, only this time I just let it be messy and not worry about going outside the lines.
I kind of like that it's called "free-motion" stitching don't you?

I can tell this painting on fabric, then stitching over it is going to become habit forming.
It sure was fun!

Happy Friday everyone!
I feel a bit behind reading blogs. I'm looking forward to some time this weekend to get caught up.
It's supposed to be beautiful weather here, so I'll be sitting outside doing a bit of blog hopping.
What are you doing this weekend?

Have a great weekend, kisses:)
I love what you've done here - I've never tried painting on fabric - are those special paints for that? Free-motion is a fantastic name for this kind of stitching and I really like how it is deliberately not being careful - the effect is so much more pleasing!
Happy PPF. This weekend we'll mostly be curled up on the sofa in front of the wood burning stove as its set to be cold and wet (as always!)
It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada ~ so I will be eating some turkey!! :)

Love the vibrant colours you chose. The stitching does give a lovely effect - will it be something eventually (like a pillow or...)?
I wish my machine did free motion stitching. But I still try to follow some of my paintings this way. I like that it truly IS free motion.
Cooking two Thanksgiving dinners...going be a fun weekend.

Thanks for the bright post, and I hope to be a better blogger buddy again.

We just past Baker... Blogging make the trip a little bit quicker..

We're hosting a little show of our own with 6 vendors called the Ester Crafty Bizarro in the little village adjacent to Fairbanks. It's special to me because The other vendors are my son and his friends. He's been printing up some T-shirts and things. It's my first Mother- son show and I think we'll have fun even if no one shows although with all of the social networking now the word may have gotten out more than I think.
Amazing combination of vibrant colors and gestural stitching!!
Love it!
Happy PPF!!

I also remember drawing on the lounge wall once and getting into a whole HEAP of trouble!
Happy PPF (a day late ;))

This is a gorgeous piece! I love that you did it on fabric - the bold color and addition of sewing is just beautiful. What a wonderful piece and blog - how have I not seen you before this? Thank you for becoming a follower - right back at ya, Kristin xo
The colors are so wonderfully vibrant and cheerful.
So nicely done!
I am going to put you on my side bar so I won't lose touch.
