Halloween Fun!

Image
Just wanted to share some Halloween fun!  I feel like I'm more into the spirit of Halloween this year... I think it has something to do with the cooler, air and autumn color! Russell carved these pumpkins and I roasted the pumpkin seeds. I STILL can't get used to the sight of these things around here.  SCARY!  Don't you just LOVE white pumpkins?  We just watched "The Shining" again last night for an old fashioned movie scare.  I am making "Autumn Cider" today and we are looking forward to  seeing all of the Trick or Treaters, goblins and ghouls tonight!  Happy Halloween!! Here's a fun little Disney Classic Short Film. (I don't think I embedded this correctly...you'll have to hit pause on my Halloween music on my side bar so it doesn't play over the video...sorry.) Kilroy Was Here...

Image
Today, I was peeking over my fence, (not unlike Kilroy ),  to get a better look at my neighbor's beautiful hydrangeas. Yes, I have my own, small hydrangea bush. But, still, I have been admiring these beauties from my window. I've watched these change colors several times over the past few months. Just like leaves on a tree, these "moody blooms" change color at different times.  Each at their own stage of life. Adding to the beauty of the season. How can one not be tempted to go out and peek at this flower every day to see the change? It's "one last show" before winter sets in. Unless,  you decide to pick them and dry them, so you can enjoy them all winter! I have a few from my own hydrangea plant that I've let dry and they are so lovely.  I wonder if my neighbor will be drying any of these?  Or, if she will share? :-)

"Last Market of the Season"

Image
Wednesday was the last day of our local farmer's market for the season. So, with my camera and empty market bag in hand I took off   down our street on this extra, special day.  The temperatures were cool and the warm sun was shining,  making the  beautiful colors of autumn stand out in all their glory!  I waved to my neighbor's across the street as I passed.  This is "Gimer," a sweet, strawberry blonde, neighbor cat that pokes his head out to say hello when I walked by. I love kicking the leaves whenever I walk through them!  What a perfect day it turned out to be for the last day of the market.  Everyone was out.  Some, like me, were simply enjoying the atmosphere.  This market had a "different feel" to me.  Maybe it was the pumpkins,  the colorful leaves, the "free" homemade carmel apples,

Weekend Comforts

Hello friends!  It's been raining a lot since Friday, so we spent a lot of time at home this past weekend, cooking and enjoying the weather. I decided to try a little Zentangle again.  Who doesn't love to doodle!? You might remember this from a year ago. But, since we are living in the PNW now I wanted to show you again the collage I made with  this huge maple leaf, that's larger than my hand. The leaf I used in my collage came from this tree that is in front of the  school where Russell works. I remember what a challenge it was trying to get that "single" leaf back to  Las Vegas last year,  without it getting squished on the plane. :-)  Now that we are here, I don't have to worry. I picked these up the other day on our walk. I pressed them in a book and will use them again in another collage. Fetzer, Shatzie and Lucy have all been enjoying the ra
