"We love the things we love, for what they are" (Robert Frost)

Image
I was reading blogs today, and over at www.rebeccasower.typepad.com , Rebecca did a post on some of the things she loves  "for what they are."  She suggested others do a blog post about the things they love  "for what they are."   That got me thinking,  so I thought I'd join in. Here are a few things I love just  "for what they are."  Fresh mint I grew,  just for some sun tea in the summertime, and things like...  ...a cherished photograph of my Mother when she was a little girl,  and things like... ...a BFF that's there for you on your wedding day, and things like... ...the cute little paws of one of my cats, ( I like to call them rabbit toes)... ...my other cat sleeping on the quilt I made for her, and like... ...a blackberry cobbler I learned to make from one of Mom's old recipes, and things like... ...a perfect leaf from an oak tree. So, what are some of the things you love,  for what they are?

A Charming Little Inn

Image
If you ever plan to visit the San Francisco Bay area and want to stay in a beautiful Bed & Breakfast just outside the city, the  Gerstle Park Inn is a lovely place!   Charming, peaceful, and friendly are just a few words to describe this place. So, I just wanted to share with you a few photos and give you the link so you can see for yourself! The garden here is so lovely and inviting.  As you explore the garden you will discover benches and seating to just relax and watch the squirrels and birds at play.  There's even a small orchard with some fruit trees! While taking a walk through the orchard, these two little deer watched and let me take their picture. ...then paid us no mind, and continued to play. This beautiful antique looking glass door at the main entry Dining area Lounge room.  Lots of beautiful antiques. Port wine for your enjoyment. You can view photos of each of the rooms before you make your reservation by visiting ...

Shorts and Sweatshirt Weather

Half Moon Bay, California A walk on the beach.  A long bike ride on a path along the ocean.  Oysters on the half shell, calamari, lobster rolls, fish tacos, crab.  Spending time with good friends.  Falling asleep to the sound of "real" waves (not the ones on my alarm clock at home).  Wearing shorts and a sweatshirt hoodie.  Priceless. Spending some time getting away from the desert heat. I hope you are enjoying your summer as well.  Becca

On The Road Again

Image
(Becky in the Red Ford Galaxy) Well, it seems like we just got back from our vacation in the pacific northwest, and now we're off again for another few days to visit friends in California.   I guess that's what "summer vacation" is all about.   At first, I wasn't sure about all the "driving" we were going to do this summer, but as it turns out, it's kind of nice.  There's no worries about how much your luggage weighs, putting your liquids into 3oz containers, if your flight will be on time and whether or not you get a window seat.  If you drive, you can take your time, bring a cooler, have a picnic along the way, bring as much "stuff" as you like, and best of all, you can always bet you'll get a window seat!  Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and I'll see you in a few days!

Antique Lace and other Vintage Eye Candy

Image
It's so much fun when traveling to check out the local flea market and antique shops. Here's just a few of my finds along the way. I still have a few more "vintage treasures" that my sweet Aunt Betty gave me that I'll show you another time.   For now, I hope everyone is having a nice week. Is anyone else besides me looking forward to the weekend already? :-) Becca

I Left My Heart...

Image
Hi all!  Well, vacation finally had to end and now it's back to work.  Here are a few photos of where I left my heart...Seattle . (I know, that's not really how the song goes). I really enjoyed trying to capture this beautiful city through my lens.  Thank you for all of your comments along my way.  The weekend is almost here! For now,  Becca
