Patina Moon

Hi everyone, I guess I got a little crazy with the camera this weekend and just took a bunch of photographs of things that inspire me.   This time of year, about 4:00pm I get the most beautiful sunlight in my studio that sometimes it just makes me want to sit and enjoy the moment, or try to capture my feelings on film. (oops, I guess I can't say that when it's all digital now huh?)  One of my many attempts at soldering. Once again, the afternoon sunlight on a side table by my comfy chair. Beautiful "patina" coins I bought during my visit to Tacoma, Washington. This is a new sun I have on the wall over my sewing machine.   I think it's a bit ironic that one of my favorite symbols is the sun/moon theme when I'm always talking about how much I love the rain and the Pacific Northwest, don't you? Hi everyone!  I feel like it's been forever since my last post!  Between work and spending time trying to learn Photoshop,  I haven't been able to just get on line and play and read my favorite blogs! So, I just wanted to send a quick hello. This is a photo of a clay heart I made for a friend of mine who's birthday is coming up.  She loves purple and since her birthday is so close to Valentine's day I wanted to make her something special. Hopefully Sheyla will like it as much as Fetzer does! I can't believe it's been raining here in Vegas off and on for 2 days!  I guess my other excuse for not getting anything done is because this weather has made me feel like just curling up with a good magazine and a glass of wine and "thinking" about all of the wonderful projects I want to start. It's still raining tonight and is supposed to continue through tomorrow.  This is so unusual for us to get so much rain and for those of you that know how much I love ...

Do you think this works?  I thought I'd give it a try, since I've been trying to learn Photoshop. This is only my second day of the on-line Photoshop class that I am taking.  http://www.djpettitt.com/online.html Photoshop can be a pretty intimidating and difficult program to learn for beginners like myself, but DJ's class has been so much fun!  Not only am I learning at my own pace, I have met friends through the workshop, and sometimes just sharing ideas and creations is a wonderful way to learn! So, here I sit in the warm sun for a while (it's 60 degrees today!) taking a break and trying to "clarify my mind" before I get back to the computer for some more Photoshop this evening. I have also been wanting to finish this bag.  It doesn't look like much now, but I wanted to at least show you the 2 panels.  The batik fabric is so much fun to work with.  Speaking of work, I do have to go back to my full time job tomorrow after having a nice long holid...

Mom would always tell me when I was little to just "eat a spoonful of black eyed peas, they'll bring you good luck. "   Each year, on New Year's Day she would make a pot of black eyed peas and cornbread.  I'm not sure if I really liked them that much when I was a child, so maybe that's why she would always get me to just " try a spoonful." Now, every year it has become a part of my tradition to cook black eyed peas and cornbread on New Years Day.  I've learned to put my own "twist" on them and my husband and I look forward to them every year. I'm pretty sure this New Year's tradition has been around for sometime, and is followed by many, but I can't help but think of it as "just something Mom made every New Year's Day for her Birthday."  It's been 15 years since my Mom has passed.  I think she would be happy that I was making and eating those black eyed peas on her Birthday every year don't you? Ha...
