Patina Blossoms

Hi Everyone!

Originally, I was planning to show you some crochet pieces I've been working on.

But instead,  I sort of got caught up in a photo shoot,  once I saw

how the colors of the blossoms matched my favorite

yarn bowl!

I'm still learning about "when" to cut these

"moody blooms" for drying.

I noticed the colors were starting to

look so different,  so I had to take a chance.

This is a hydrangea that I have in a container by our front door.

When I bought them they were blue and purple.

Now, the pedals are changing to a beautiful, patina green with even some pinks mixed in!

This weekend was the Bellevue Arts Fair  here in Washington.

It was a fun and beautiful day to walk around and see all the different booths filled with

creativity!

I even got to meet artist/illustrator Cori Dantini.

If you are not familiar with Cori's work, you will love her site!

So, eventually I will get around to showing you some more crochet.  This is just a practice piece with

some old yarn I had.  It's going to be a clutch.  The single crochet is getting boring but I'm almost to

the fun and more challenging part.

After seeing some of the beautiful art at the fair this weekend, I've been pretty inspired to work on a

new collage though.  I think it's time for some paint and glue!

Hope you have a beautiful week.

Your hydrangeas are lovely! The soil chemistry is what decides the colors of the blooms... Yours were grown in a different type of soil than what you have in your yard. That's why the flowers changed color since you planted it. I just love them... any color... doesn't matter to me!

Your hydrangea's look so pretty. I bet you are in heaven learning all about the new and beautiful things you can plant.. I know I will enjoy seeing all your beautiful photos..

That single crochet looks just like the Wash clothes I was telling you about..

Hope you have a nice evening my friend..

so i'm guessing you don't have to hang these blooms to dry them. they look neat!
What gorgeous photos, Becca...the hydrangea is stunning!
Hydrangeas are the chameleons of the flower world in that their colors change according to the soil and alkaline level. If you transplanted it to the ground, the color would really change. Your potted hydrangea has turned a lovely teal shade. So pretty. I don't like doing single crochet. Actually, double crochet to me works up much faster even though there is the extra yarn over. For some reason, I have to really think in order to do the simple crochet. Can't wait to see what your clutch looks like. Have a great day. Tammy

Those Hydrangea colors always fill my heart with joy...love the turquoise shades in them.

Maybe next year I will have a blue one again, but for now I have pink. And that is lovely also.

These photos are beautiful and love that basket Becca!
There are some beautiful hydrangea's here in the garden but unfortunately the last owner planted them in the strangest spots...where you can hardly see them and tucked away in corners!

I can see you are totally loving your new home!! How wonderful is that!

Looks to me like you nailed the picking time! Hard to describe but should work perfectly. Glad you discovered the art fair; I was kicking myself for not mentioning it to you! I bought a cool topiary turtle there once which unfortunately didn't live....it was neat though.

Gorgeous phots. I love how hydrangeas change slowly over a month or so and have so many variations as they do. xox
