Garden Inspiration and Design

A couple of weeks ago you might remember I attended

 the Northwest Flower and Garden Show.

Wow, what a fun day that was with my friends Priscilla and Stephanie.

I couldn't believe how much there was to see, do, and buy!  



So, today I thought you might like to see a few of the 

gardens that were on display this year.



The lighting was beautiful here in this contemporary garden design.




Loved this unusual gate...see the little cricket at the bottom?



I learned a little more about my camera settings too this day. 

I'm not used to shooting in artificial light and most of the displays 

were shown off with bright spot lights!




Then, the next display would be darker, so I had to adjust my 

settings each time.  

Look at this! 

Isn't this fun?  

I mean, who has a disco ball in their garden? 



Unfortunately, this one below wasn't my best photo, but I just 

had to show you my favorite garden display.

No, that's not a real body back there! Lol

 I love the vodka bottle, Camel cigarettes, and 

broken martini glass in the background too.

I loved how the artist/designer showed a real sense of humor with their display.





Love the vintage metal chairs.

Lots of fun ideas.

These bottles reminded me of the windows at the

Shakey's Pizza Place when I was a kid.

Do you remember Shakey's Pizza? 





Ah...this was more like me...

Adirondack chair, daffodils, dragon flies and a tea pot! 




The Convention Center in Seattle is very nice.

I love this area where you can see all the way down the 

street to the water and Pike's Place Market.




Beautiful area to sit and rest, grab a bite to eat and start 

walking around again! 




I hope you enjoyed my little tour of my day at the 

Northwest Garden and Flower Show.

If you are ever in the area during the show, it's something 

you don't want to miss!

Looks like a great show. So many beautiful displays. I so glad you were able capture some shots and share them with us. The one with the Adirondack chair definitely looks like you. In fact I almost thought it might be your yard at first glace.

We were there too. Isn't just amazing?! I gave up trying to take pictures with my camera there, the lighting is really tricky. Your pictures turned out great.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Creating Art with Tea Bags

As summer approaches and the sunshine is plentiful here in the  desert southwest, I drink a lot of this... Making sun tea here only takes a short time. I've been using 6 regular size tea bags for the above container. (I like a pretty strong flavor)  You can add sugar or not, I enjoy it with a little mint leaves & lemon and  sometimes an added sweetener.  I started having so many tea bags and I've seen my friend Kimmie   create art with them, so I thought I'd give it a try!  I just let the bags completely dry,  remove the tag & staple then open them up carefully and empty the tea. Open the bags at the seam line and this is what you have,  beautifully tea stained papers for collage, sewing, etc.  Here, I used old dictionary book paper to create my flower design on water color paper.  I painted the flowers with watercolors.  Collaged torn tea bags onto the background, then stitched around  each flower for ...

Star Garland

It's been raining...and raining... and raining some more today.   You know how much I love it! I still laugh at myself for thinking it'll rain hard for 10 minutes then  stop for another 8 months like it did in Las Vegas.   (even though I know better here in Seattle.)   It's funny what you become accustomed to over the years.  So I sat, drinking hot tea by the fireplace, (a loose leaf blend called "Seattle Sunset" from  Savrika Tea in Kirkland  )  listening to the rain against the window.  I started crocheting star garland with my favorite,  linen yarn. Star garland...for the holidays, or everyday. You can make them any size, or any color. I'm using a 3.50mm steel crochet hook with linen yarn. Step 1:   Ch 5, join with a slip st to form a ring. Step 2:   Ch 3.  14 dc into the ring.  Slip st to 3rd ch of ch3 to form a circle...
