Blossoms of Love

 Hello Friends! 

Last week, I took the advise of my friend, 


and made my way over to the Washington Park Arboretum  

to photograph all of the blooming trees before the spring 

wind and rain blew them all away. 





It turned out to be the perfect day except for the fact

 that I didn't get to share it with my sweetie because he had to work. 




I mean, who can stand under this tree with all of it's blossoms

and lovely sweet scent and not be in the mood for love? 




I've never been to Paris in the Springtime
(not in any season actually). 

Living here in Seattle, however, makes me feel like I've always imagined 

I would feel seeing Paris in the Spring.





Speaking of my "Sweetie," he saw an artist supply store near his work,  

and signed me up for their Artist Club Card. 

Oh Boy,   have I ever been having a fun time visiting this place! 


I've been breaking out the watercolor tubes of paint and getting my 

hands dirty!

Did you make it to the Japanese Garden part? The cherry trees on the UW campus are always beautiful too, and on a clear day Rainier Vista is amazing.

These photographs are really beautiful, Becca, and what a place to be with a camera. It reminds me of cherry blossom time in Washington DC.

These are stunning photos - and just in time before the rains started again. I love the arboretum - it's gorgeous every season, but especially spring and fall.

Daniel Smith is right on my way home from work and some days I have to really fight the steering wheel not to turn in! :)

When I was in art school up here in BC, Daniel Smith was the mecca of all stores. There was nothing like it in BC, so once a year all the students would hire a bus and drive down to Seattle.

I still have vivid memories of visiting the conservatory, the cactus greenhouse, and seeing the Andrew Wyeth show as a local gallery....

But the plants are the ones that stayed in my mind the longest...I guess I am more of a gardener then a artist. lol.

Good for you to go to that beautiful park, amazing shots.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... Creating Art with Tea Bags

As summer approaches and the sunshine is plentiful here in the  desert southwest, I drink a lot of this... Making sun tea here only takes a short time. I've been using 6 regular size tea bags for the above container. (I like a pretty strong flavor)  You can add sugar or not, I enjoy it with a little mint leaves & lemon and  sometimes an added sweetener.  I started having so many tea bags and I've seen my friend Kimmie   create art with them, so I thought I'd give it a try!  I just let the bags completely dry,  remove the tag & staple then open them up carefully and empty the tea. Open the bags at the seam line and this is what you have,  beautifully tea stained papers for collage, sewing, etc.  Here, I used old dictionary book paper to create my flower design on water color paper.  I painted the flowers with watercolors.  Collaged torn tea bags onto the background, then stitched around  each flower for dimension.  This book mark I made using water
