Painting on Fabric
Happy weekend everyone!
In between packing and laundry this week, I managed to get in a little bit of time to work on a piece for Paint Party Friday
I sketched some designs on fabric and started painting the flowers with watercolor pencils.
Then I used 6 strands of embroidery floss to split stitch around the flowers.
I painted the leaves with acrylic paints, added the burlap scraps and sewed around the edges.
It's looking like it might be a good cover for a journal, I haven't decided yet.
I'll probably add some more beads too.
Finally, in my last post I mentioned I was working on my first 3/4 face.
Here's a little peek of the sketch in my moleskin journal.
Not sure I have all the dimensions correct, but I think I'll work with it and maybe my next attempt will be better.
Thanks for dropping by and don't forget to check out some of the other entries for

Your flowers are wonderful/ I love the colours and the stitching around them certainly makes them pop.
Very pretty and really WOULD make a lovely journal cover.
Really good 3/4 face. I can never get mine right at all but this is lovely.

Lovely sketch!
...and your 3/4 face looks so nice, too!
Happy PPF!
I do luv that embroidery, the painted flowers and stitchery is gorgeous, nicely done. Ithink it would look lovely as a journal cover and without doubt entice one to ask about it.
lUV the sketch.

There's still time to get in on my give away.
I love the combination of fabric painting and embroidery! Fantastic. I've started using watered-down acrylic paint to paint muslin, and I can't help but think that your design would make a gorgeous scarf!

I know how you feel about moving. There's so much going on, on so many levels. There's the work of it, and the emotion - both sadness and excitement. Anyway, Seattle looks lovely.
happy packing! Karen

Becca, I had a 'system' for following blogs (involving the bloglist on my photo journal) and, this year, it's simply not working; so, now, in the reorganization, I've become a new 'follower'. Silliness - that's what it is - because I have been following along for ages, now. =]
Yup! Silliness! =]

And your sketch is looking great, too.
Happy (late) PPF!
