Sharing Some Garden Pretties

Do you know what these are? 


Well, they are all that's left of my beautiful bearded irises this year. 
If only their beautiful flowers would stick around a bit longer, but it always gives me something to look forward to each spring.

Agave plant
(am I the only one that thinks of tequila when I see this plant?) 




These bulbs are Star Gazer Lilies.
I had this flower in my wedding bouquet so I'm really excited to see if I can get this to grow before it gets too hot here. 


I can't believe I even found this at our nursery here in Las Vegas, it's Rhubarb!
I only planted 2 bulbs, but as you can see it's really doing well so far. 










So, what's growing in your garden?  
Do any of you have experience growing rhubarb?  I would be interested in any tips you have to offer.

no, sorry no rhubarb experience ;) we just planted a bunch of salad and different tomatoes and thing sin our garden the other day-can't wait for it all to be edible :)

Hi Becca,
Yes I have big Rhubarb plants in the garten- don`t do much ,as they are very eaysy to grow here. Only when the they are starting to be fat, we cut the stalk, so there will start coming new, on the same plant-they can give stalks twice a summer.

Becca, the beautiful photo's of your garden made me feel like I was there... The little droplets of water on the leaves, the tiny chinks in the pottery and the fuzzy throat of the iris. Lovely. (I'm sorry, I don't know anything about rhubarb.)

Oh Becca send some heat this way please!! It's raining and damp today but the tree frogs are singing away!
Rhubarb is not my favourite but my mom always grew it and did nothing to make it grow. This grows like a weed back home. It's not uncommon to see it take over and grow anywhere. Seems to be a hardy plant.

No experience with rhubarb,only eating it in pies and crisps and I love it. We have tomatoes in our garden but it is not hot enough for them so they are just sitting there. I love the photo of the dried up Iris it was beautiful.

So many pretty things growing and happening in your garden Becca! Mine is still pretty brown with not too much happening. Though I seem to have lots and lots of little round rabbit 'droppings'. ;)

oh my, my irises have barely just started, still cold here. Yours were so pretty.
Rhubarb goes really fast. and is wonderful with strawberries in a strawberry/rhubarb pie.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... Creating Art with Tea Bags

As summer approaches and the sunshine is plentiful here in the  desert southwest, I drink a lot of this... Making sun tea here only takes a short time. I've been using 6 regular size tea bags for the above container. (I like a pretty strong flavor)  You can add sugar or not, I enjoy it with a little mint leaves & lemon and  sometimes an added sweetener.  I started having so many tea bags and I've seen my friend Kimmie   create art with them, so I thought I'd give it a try!  I just let the bags completely dry,  remove the tag & staple then open them up carefully and empty the tea. Open the bags at the seam line and this is what you have,  beautifully tea stained papers for collage, sewing, etc.  Here, I used old dictionary book paper to create my flower design on water color paper.  I painted the flowers with watercolors.  Collaged torn tea bags onto the background, then stitched around  each flower for dimension.  This book mark I made using water
