Flowers for Monday

Image
Bread feeds the body, indeed, but  flowers feed also the soul. -The Koran Sharing a few discoveries around my garden. My favorite thing in the above photo is the fence. :-) I grew up in the desert southwest in houses surrounded by masonry block walls. I find this fence made of wood so refreshing and easy on the eyes. (maybe that's why I've had that wooden fence background on my blog for so long) The hydrangea that was already here is blooming and I am so excited about the color! Staging with color and garden art. After trimming back some trees I discovered these succulents.  Somebody's keeping an eye on the birds. An old wheel barrow makes a good planter.  Yesterday, we had a fun day with our friends   Linda   and Bruce from Las Vegas. They are here in the Pacific Northwest visiting family in Portland so the...

Learning a New Language

Image
As things have slowly started to find their place in our new home, I'm beginning to long for that creative connection again. Crochet is what's fascinating me at the moment.  With so many yarn stores here in the Seattle area, going into one, without sounding too cliche',  is like being a kid in a candy store!  Hand dyed yarns, linen and hemp are always what grabs my attention first.  Then, it's the books and sites with patterns galore! I get impatient and want to crochet the beautiful lacy shawl, or intricate afghan right away. Then, I have to take a step back and remember that I am STILL teaching myself this craft and learning to do the basics must come first. So, I look for the words..."Beginner's Guide" and "Easy."  Hum, not always so!  It's about Learning a New Language isn't it?  I've used the words "YO" and "Cluster" before, but never in this context. :-) T...

"That's My Spot"

Image
Hi!  Remember me?  I'm Lucy... I wanted to show you this really cool spot in my mom's new craft room where I like to take a nap. There's a big cushy ottoman with a soft blanket right under this window. Sometimes, when it's not raining, the sun shines through and makes it extra warm and cozy. Mom puts pretty rocks here to make it all "zen-like."  This is my big sister, Shatzie. Sometimes she hisses at me when I'm all goofy running around and playing.   So, I try to be real quiet when I want to share this spot with her.  My big sis is like having an extra blanket to nap with.  Sometimes though, she has a hard time getting comfortable and growls at me a little. I don't know why...I try to keep her warm too! Either way, it's just nice she lets me share this spot with her, so I try to be good.  I love my big sister. Do you have a favorite s...

Photography in the Rain

Image
Donning my lime green rain coat, and rubber garden shoes I grabbed my camera and stepped outside to   take some photos in the rain. This song... White Daisy Passing  on my mind. Beautiful harmonies,  haunting lyrics and scenes of Seattle in the video. Enjoy. Have a beautiful weekend.  Becca
