Puffed Hearts and early morning sunshine


This time of year it's so much easier to get up early.  The sun is up early and if you live where I do and love to be outdoors, the early mornings are the coolest time of day. 
Now that I have time off,  I can get back into a little creating/photography, so I started off simple with these little "puffed hearts." 
(I love that name, reminds me of the puffed heart necklaces from the 80's) 


Nothing fancy, I just enjoy making them.

Your puffed hearts, turn out wonderful... I love the colors of both of them, and your stiching looks great! They look like they were fun to make! I would love to try to make one! So many Crafts so little time! Life is Good!

I've always been an 'early bird' but summer does indeed bring such beautiful mornings with it. I love the colors in your "puffed hearts". So beautiful!

Ahhhh... the sunshine... it does a heart good doesn't it?

Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia and it is located on Vancouver Island. Alot of people get confused about it. You take the ferry from the city of Vancouver to Vancouver Island where beautiful Victoria is located. I live about 30min from Victoria. I live in Crofton which has a ferry that can take you to Salt Spring Island which is beautiful and alot of famous actors and artists live there. You must contact me if you make it over.

Hi Becca, I came over fron Linda's at My Happy Place...your blog is absolutely gorgeous...you girls are so crafty...could you do a post on how you learned how to do all this...do you think it is a "natural" thing or is there hope for me as a "learned" thing?

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... If you've read my blog for some time, you might remember, this "desert girl" is fascinated with  rain chains. :-) I'm still traveling...Seattle...it's raining... Creating Art with Tea Bags

As summer approaches and the sunshine is plentiful here in the  desert southwest, I drink a lot of this... Making sun tea here only takes a short time. I've been using 6 regular size tea bags for the above container. (I like a pretty strong flavor)  You can add sugar or not, I enjoy it with a little mint leaves & lemon and  sometimes an added sweetener.  I started having so many tea bags and I've seen my friend Kimmie   create art with them, so I thought I'd give it a try!  I just let the bags completely dry,  remove the tag & staple then open them up carefully and empty the tea. Open the bags at the seam line and this is what you have,  beautifully tea stained papers for collage, sewing, etc.  Here, I used old dictionary book paper to create my flower design on water color paper.  I painted the flowers with watercolors.  Collaged torn tea bags onto the background, then stitched around  each flower for dimension.  This book mark I made using water
