Ladies in Lavender




These are just a few things I found at a local craft store.  I'm suddenly on a lavender kick now!  Although this is not real lavender, I thought it would work for now to dress up my kitchen table. 
I don't really know that much about lavender I guess, but I wonder if it would be something I could grow in my region.  Since I live in the desert, it gets pretty hot in the summer and I usually follow the guide lines for the region 7-9.  Does anyone know if you can grow lavender in a container?  
I must do some research! 


It was another rainy Saturday here in Las Vegas, so a great time to curl up with some favorite magazines.

Then what better way to end a rainy Saturday than with a little homemade clam chowder made by my sweet husband.  I am a lucky girl! 

So, to sum up my craziness about lavender earlier I hope someone can give me some advise about growing the real thing and I also wanted to share with you one of my absolute favorite films if you haven't already seen it.

Hi Becca- love the photo with you and your dad- so sweet! I love lavender, too, but I have never tried growing it, wonder if I can grow it here (probably at least as an annual). Thanks for sharing all the pics- I love the photo of the porch and arirondack chairs, I will have to buy that mag!

Hi Bec, Love your new finds, Very cool I bet they look great on your table. Your Magazine and book look just like your style. Looks like a fun way to get inspired. Yes, you can indeed grow lavender in a container. I have some in my little fairy garden. Of course most herbs like good drainage and dry regions, so you should be perfect. Make sure there is gravel or some pebbles in the bottom of the pot. If it drains well and gets proper sun, you should do well. Love that pitcher it's in!

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... It's a Crochet Thing….

Hi friends!   Well, I said I'd be back with some crochet stuff I've been working on,  I just didn't think it would take me so long.  So, I found this cute coaster pattern on line that uses "jute"  and yarn. They were easy to make, and the yarn adds so much to them,  don't you think?   Look at the back, I think even the back looks interesting!  Click  HERE  for the link if you want to make these.  I've been working on this afghan for a while now.  I love it because the squares have been pretty  easy to make even while watching TV.  The colors remind me of the blue hydrangeas I love so much!  Finally, I've been going nuts about adding crocheted edgings on things.  I made a couple of tea towels for gifts, and I'm still  working on more of these.  Don't you just love ticking fabric?  Well, there ya ha...
