Living in the moment



It seems like lately I've been so focused on living somewhere else, that I haven't really taken a closer look at my own surroundings.
This skinny little tree in my yard that I'm really not too fond of and I've also dubbed "the Charlie Brown tree" stood out to me the other day so I took a closer look.
I've been posting photos of places I've been and want to live, and how much I love the Fall colors that I never really looked in my own front yard.
I know it's not really much of a tree, but it was like it was saying "hey look at me" "look at my colors too!"
It really will be a "stick" when all those colorful leaves fall off by Christmas, but maybe this year I'll decorate it like the Charlie Brown tree...maybe it just needs a little love.


So for now...
just trying to remember to "live in the moment"

I loved what you wrote about living in the moment. When my mind is going crazy and I think I need to slow down I alway think to my self "The Power of Now". That is a book I read. I didn't finish it but just the saying the title brings me into the now.

I do hope you get your dream someday but for now I'm glad your here.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... A Fresh Start

Greetings friends, Happy 2015!  The holidays came and went like a flash for me this year.  Since my last post, ("A Real Pumpkin Farm") Thanksgiving happened, I  celebrated the big 50th Birthday, then Christmas was here and gone before I  could catch my breath! Whew!  Last year, 2014, I started a photo a day challenge on Instagram and managed to finish  that without a hitch, Yay!    While I did meet lots of new friends and had a great time, I feel like I  neglected my blog, and that made me sad.   So, here I go 2015 slowly but surely making a fresh start!  Hopefully they'll still be a few of you out there that haven't given up on me.  *** This week is my MIL's birthday, so one of the gifts I have for her are these  crocheted, heart coasters I made.  (yes, I am STILL a crocheting, crazy cat lady) LOL!  Another project I finished is this afghan/throw I made for my  favorite reading
