A Boost of Inspiration!

Image
This past Friday, I had the pleasure of joining my friend,  Judy and we attended the annual  Block Party Quilters' Quilt Show in Issaquah, Washington. Sadly, I didn't get the names for all of these artists. I'm sure, however,  if you visit the BPQ website, I highlighted above,   you can get more information. Here are some of my favorites:  Even if you are not a quilter, or fiber artist, I think seeing these lovely  pieces is an inspiration for your creative soul. My photos do not do them justice either.  I wish you could have been there!  Below is Dreams by Maria Michurina. I love what she says about her piece.  "All of my works are based on something I've seen; therefore,  as a quilter, I  definitely make what I see.   Like everyone, I perceive the world in my own way; so if you can't recognize the lady on the portrait, just believe...

Around our House

Image
A Perfect Autumn. Our first one since living here. I know you've seen a lot of posts already, about this time of year. But, I still can't get enough of it.   Today, I'm just walking around our yard, taking in every step and moment. Decorations from nature, adorn the ground.  The sun comes out briefly to show off the colors. The leaves...they're everywhere!  Maybe that's what this rake is for  that's been leaning against the house since we moved in.  :-)  Some branches are starting to show signs of winter already,  as the leaves flutter to the ground,  leaving me feeling a little melancholy.    I'm not ready for Autumn to end! ("It'll be back next year!" Russell reminds me with a smile.) All the different types of leaves,  and all the different colors. Hum, nature's tear...

Lucy & the Hydrangea

Image
Dear Friends... Just a quick note to say hello.  My sweet neighbor, with the gorgeous hydrangeas said,  "Take as many as you'd like!"  I think Lucy is enjoying them as much as I am don't you?  Becca

Halloween Fun!

Image
Just wanted to share some Halloween fun!  I feel like I'm more into the spirit of Halloween this year... I think it has something to do with the cooler, air and autumn color! Russell carved these pumpkins and I roasted the pumpkin seeds. I STILL can't get used to the sight of these things around here.  SCARY!  Don't you just LOVE white pumpkins?  We just watched "The Shining" again last night for an old fashioned movie scare.  I am making "Autumn Cider" today and we are looking forward to  seeing all of the Trick or Treaters, goblins and ghouls tonight!  Happy Halloween!! Here's a fun little Disney Classic Short Film. (I don't think I embedded this correctly...you'll have to hit pause on my Halloween music on my side bar so it doesn't play over the video...sorry.) Kilroy Was Here...

Image
Today, I was peeking over my fence, (not unlike Kilroy ),  to get a better look at my neighbor's beautiful hydrangeas. Yes, I have my own, small hydrangea bush. But, still, I have been admiring these beauties from my window. I've watched these change colors several times over the past few months. Just like leaves on a tree, these "moody blooms" change color at different times.  Each at their own stage of life. Adding to the beauty of the season. How can one not be tempted to go out and peek at this flower every day to see the change? It's "one last show" before winter sets in. Unless,  you decide to pick them and dry them, so you can enjoy them all winter! I have a few from my own hydrangea plant that I've let dry and they are so lovely.  I wonder if my neighbor will be drying any of these?  Or, if she will share? :-) ...
