Painting Leaves

Image
Being inspired by all the colors of the  season, I got out my watercolor paints  to play. Do you remember this post?  Nature's Paint Where I picked leaves and flowers and smashed them onto  watercolor paper and fabric and some of the darker colors printed right onto the paper.  So Fun!  So, this time, I picked a few leaves and brought them in and painted them  with watercolor paint and pressed them onto the paper.  I think the Japanese Maple Leaf turned out the best print so far.  I just kept repainting it with different colors. An easy and fun way to make a greeting card or note. This Japanese maple in our side yard has turned the most lovely  golden yellow color.  Directly across from it is another one but it's leaves are more reddish/orange,  and it's where I got the leaf to make the print.  I didn't take a p...

October Happenings

Image
October. My favorite month.  Even when I lived in the Nevada desert I loved October.  It's when things started to cool down from the hot summers.  Now, even more than ever,  I love this season/month!  This year, I made an autumn wreath for our front door.  I am REALLY excited about decorating for fall.  Even two of our cats fit into the colors of fall.  There's been a lot of squirrel watching lately,  ...and bird watching,  when it's not nap time. ...and burning beeswax candles and incense  when it's damp and rainy outside.  Even though today was beautiful and sunny, you can just feel it in the air  that the colder, rainy weather is just around the corner.  I hear that November is the wettest month around these parts.  So, until then, I shall soak up the sun and play in the dirt  when I have t...

Summertime

Image
Hello Friends!  Just dropping in to say hello and  share some pretties!  It's been such a lovely summer! Lots of activities outdoors rather than  spending much time on the computer.  Just enjoying the sunshine and long, summer  days while it's here... Hope you're enjoying your summertime too!  I'll be back soon... I have a recipe I want to share!  Becca

Lazy Days of Summer

Image
Hi Friends!  Wow, the lazy days of summer have hit me a little differently this year.  Instead of hiding indoors, trying to stay cool  with the air conditioner blasting, I've enjoyed being outside in the 70 degree weather!   Summer in Seattle is SO lovely.   It hasn't rained in a few weeks.  In fact, I have to admit I miss it a little!   I know it will be back soon though, so better enjoy the  sunshine now!  Crocheting is something I can do outside.  I finished this doily piece for a friend of mine.   I also got out my sketch book and worked on another face.  So much action going on in the garden now. Keeping the birds and squirrels fed are something we enjoy.  I found this little guy on the deck and at first I thought he was hurt,  but he was just hanging out resting I guess. I think he was tired from this,  and ...

Down by the Seashore

Image
Hi Everyone!  We're back from our wonderful and most memorable anniversary trip  to some of Washington's beautiful shore line.  (totally loving my new cap here that says "Got Rain?"  Olympic National Park) This was the view from our room at the  Kalaloch Lodge We went on so many great hikes to the surrounding beaches. My new beach hiking sandals were perfect  for hiking and beach combing.  I'm not sure I could pick out a favorite beach, they were all so  unique and lovely!   Sometimes it felt like we were the only people in this beautiful place.  This desert born girl hasn't really done a lot of beach combing,  so, I felt like one of those kids you see at the aquariums  running around and touching everything!  Everywhere you looked it was something new and exciting! Such a pretty little s...

Friday Finds

Bleeding Hearts.  I discovered these in my front yard a couple of weeks ago! Since the weather has been nice, I have been outside a lot lately just exploring our surroundings. I was thrilled to find this Bleeding Heart plant right in my own front yard!  I've only seen pictures of them on other blogs, until now.  Such delicate little flowers they are!   So, I thought this was the perfect thing to share this week on  Kim Klassen's  Friday Finds Hope you discover something new and wonderful too this weekend!  Becca  **** Since Google Reader will be no more as of July 1st, I have chosen Bloglovin' as a way to keep up with my favorite blogs. Down the Lane

Image
So this is June already. It feels wonderful to be walking in the month of June,  in the bright,  warm sunlight and not feeling "hot." Just down the lane (or alley actually) from us is this colorful display  of flowers along a white fence. After putting away our recycling bins, I walked down the lane to  check out this beautiful scene. Busy bees everywhere!  Warm sun brightened the already vibrant colors of these flowers.  Such a simple pleasure to pass by this way each day.  Hope you're having a nice weekend.   I had an old friend in town that I haven't seen for years. It was a nice visit...like we'd just picked up from where we'd left off.  :-) Becca
