Just Some Green...

Hello friends, 

I stepped out into the misty rain the other day to shoot some things 

around our deck area, looking for color. 



 This time of year, the rainy season, there doesn't seem to be 

that much color around..just mostly green. 



I am quite happy with green though...

so much more than the brown desert of my past. :-)



In fact, I do tend to lean toward the neutral tones just like this

beautiful taupe color of the gloves that my friend Judy knitted for me. 

Aren't they beautiful?  So soft too. 

Perfect for shooting in the light rain. :-) 



Made this crocheted wrap bracelet for my sis-n-law that lives in Bend, Oregon. 

The hardest part is stringing all the beads on!

Love all your tones, greens and neutrals. What a beautiful pair of gloves, nice to have a friend who is such a good knitter. Nice bracelet too. I am sure your Sis in law will be thrilled. Perfect little patina moon too. xox

Green is a sight for these sore eyes. And rain makes everything glisten. Around here, just dirty and dusty most all the time. I certainly can't keep up. The dust just sticks to my poor plants no matter what I do. The mitts are so pretty. And I Love that bracelet! Happy February! Tammy

What a fun bracelet! Isn't this early spring crazy? I have daffodils ready to bloom. Hey, you didn't mention all the moss..... Have a fabulous Valentine's weekend! Does Eton have winter break? If so, enjoy. Hugs.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... If you've read my blog for some time, you might remember, this "desert girl" is fascinated with  rain chains. :-) I'm still traveling...Seattle...it's raining... Creating Art with Tea Bags

As summer approaches and the sunshine is plentiful here in the  desert southwest, I drink a lot of this... Making sun tea here only takes a short time. I've been using 6 regular size tea bags for the above container. (I like a pretty strong flavor)  You can add sugar or not, I enjoy it with a little mint leaves & lemon and  sometimes an added sweetener.  I started having so many tea bags and I've seen my friend Kimmie   create art with them, so I thought I'd give it a try!  I just let the bags completely dry,  remove the tag & staple then open them up carefully and empty the tea. Open the bags at the seam line and this is what you have,  beautifully tea stained papers for collage, sewing, etc.  Here, I used old dictionary book paper to create my flower design on water color paper.  I painted the flowers with watercolors.  Collaged torn tea bags onto the background, then stitched around  each flower for dimension.  This book mark I made using water
