Becca, what a heavenly place! One couldn't possibly carry any stress in such a place. Thought you might like to see one of my creative creations (from the Great Big Card Swap if you're familiar with it? - the theme is bloom). I haven't actually started any pieces yet from the She Had 3 Hearts workshop, but the videos has given me so much already - love it. I love how simple and random it appears and yet so fantastic. It's made me aware of old "artistic ghosts" that I'll be more than happy to be rid of!! How did you find the workshop you participated in??
oh these are wonderful! that first one drew me straight in, I could just sit under that tree with the beautiful light and then sit waiting for birds and wildlife to come to the birdtable in the last shot, perfect perfect shots with perfect light.
Becca! Just did a bit of catching up and I LOVE that post about where you create. MY... to be a guest in your home! - and in the company of Shatzie and Fetzer :-) and the gorgeous setting of your creative space. It'd be difficult to keep fingers off! Bliss!
Welcome Bloggers! My art room is actually our guest room that I've managed to fill every extra nook and cranny with inspiration and my art. Here to greet you are my two studio cats, Shatzie and Fetzer. Hurry and grab a seat before Fetzer beats you to it! Along this side of the wall I've managed to squeeze in 2 computer desks and a lot of my stuff. As you can see, my "workspace" is small, so I try to stick to smaller projects. The only problem is, I like to "dabble" in a bit of every media, therefore it's easy to run out of space. So, what I try to do is utilize my small space by storing my supplies in plastic bins in my closet. I am so lucky to have a MIL that when she visits she doesn't mind hanging her clothes on a hook on the door. :-) I am always on the look out for interesting containers to store art supplies that are "out in the open." Some of my favorites are vintage tins, and Ball jars. Vintage sp...
Hello Friends! Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially if this is a long weekend for you! It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I thought it was time to get out my tea bags and get creative! This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest. I love the color and texture the tea bags create. After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design. The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the...
It's been raining...and raining... and raining some more today. You know how much I love it! I still laugh at myself for thinking it'll rain hard for 10 minutes then stop for another 8 months like it did in Las Vegas. (even though I know better here in Seattle.) It's funny what you become accustomed to over the years. So I sat, drinking hot tea by the fireplace, (a loose leaf blend called "Seattle Sunset" from Savrika Tea in Kirkland ) listening to the rain against the window. I started crocheting star garland with my favorite, linen yarn. Star garland...for the holidays, or everyday. You can make them any size, or any color. I'm using a 3.50mm steel crochet hook with linen yarn. Step 1: Ch 5, join with a slip st to form a ring. Step 2: Ch 3. 14 dc into the ring. Slip st to 3rd ch of ch3 to form a circle...
