"I Gotta Rock"

Who can ever forget the famous words of the beloved Peanuts character
Charlie Brown.
As Autumn approaches,  I am reading more and more blogs about Fall, and Halloween so I am reminded of one of my favorite Peanuts films,  "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"
Poor Charlie Brown's Trick or Treating adventure turned into disappointment when all of his friends were delightfully shouting out all of the candy and goodies they received, only to find "a rock" in his trick or treat bag.

Well, unlike Charlie Brown, for as long as I can remember, I've always loved Rocks.
(maybe not so much if I would have received them while Trick or Treating)

I remember every time I would travel with my parents, I would manage to find more rocks to bring home.

After a while, I had so many rocks, that Dad gave me his old fishing tackle box to store them in.

that I found and gave to my Mother when I was young.

This isn't the best photo, but maybe you can see the small cross on the rock.
I guess my Mom cherished this so much she had it mounted on a piece of marble and wrote this on the back.

So, there you have it...My rock collection.
I don't keep them in a fishing tackle box anymore, I like to display them in my garden so I can enjoy them and be reminded of the fun times I had collecting them.

Do you still have some collections or items that you've saved over the years?
I'd love to hear about them.
Looking forward to the weekend already!

Your photos even make the rocks beautiful! I love the quartz you gave to your mother and I can see the cross. How neat that you still have the collection from a child.

Beautiful rocks Becca! I too have always loved rocks!
I have had this tiny pebble of rock forever...it is shaped like an Indians moccassin. This tiny tiny "rock" has sooo much meaning to me because i found it on the beach with my dad when i was so so young maybe five? The memory is so vivid to me of my dad picking it up off the beach and saying "It looks like a childs moccasin" . I keep it in this really cool pottery egg cup...sounds crazy but it has so much meaning to me. It survived the 3,000 miles to B.C. but everytime i hold it ..it takes me back to a special moment with my dad.
Sorry for the long story but I just had to share it with you!

What a beautiful rock collection Becca! And the It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown ~ classic! Gosh ~ I can't think of any collection I have had since childhood. I think we moved around too much and so always had to 'keep things light'. But something I wish I still had? A little china tea set that my grandma gave me for my birthday when I was a little girl. I still remember it.

Hope you are having a great week Becca!

How cool is that.. Those don't look like Vegas rocks... That little note from you MOM is too cool.. When I was 7 or 8 my mom would take me and my sister to garage sales and I would alway look for those old salt & pepper shakers.. They were old then so they are really old now.. I don't know if you saw them in my hutch.. But I still keep my fav's out to look at... But I put the BIG teddy bear shaker away for safe keeping...
