Fabric Beads & A Message Through Art

Hi everyone!
I hope you are spending this Valentine's Day weekend with those you love.
I had a romantic dinner with my "sweetheart" last night.
We wanted to celebrate on Saturday since we had the time off from work and could enjoy it more.

This weekend has been lovely outdoors, so it's been fun trying to divide my time in the sunshine, and also wanting to be creative.

If you're like me, I'm sure you have a lot of fabric and paper scraps stashed around that you wonder what you're going to use them for, well I finally decided to try and make some fabric beads.

I don't have them all embellished yet, but the way the sun was shining through my window so beautifully this afternoon, I didn't want to wait to show you what I've done so far.

It's so easy!  You just use some watered down glue and wrap your fabric around a bamboo skewer that you've wrapped in plastic wrap so the glued fabric won't stick.  Let dry overnight and your ready to embellish anyway you like.
I'm using some hemp fibers and metallic thread with beads, then possibly some of my shredded words.
Remember my "word sphere" from a previous post?
If not, you can find it  HERE
I still have that pile of words on my desk.

So the funny thing was, I looked down and saw this!

Do not be discouraged.

I believe that God speaks to us in different ways, and when I saw this, it was perfect for me right now!
Whatever you believe, it is kind of fun to read a message through "art" don't you think?

The sun is fading fast, so I'll say goodbye for now.
I have the day off tomorrow, so I think I will do some baking for my sweetheart.

Happy Valentine's Day my friends!

Becca

This art is so cool! Love your photos Becca. Your photography is just amazing and I hope one day you end up in the place you want to be and become a full time artist!!!
God's messages are everywhere is just whether we are up to seeing them!!!
I was thinking of a girlfriend back home who has been through so much cancer treatment. For some reason I felt this compelling urge to send her a gift...little did I know she received the gift on the morning of her yearly visit to her cancer specialist!! She sent me a message and said "God had you send me this gift to let me know he is beside me today!" Isn't that wild?

Happy Valentine's Day Becca!!!
He speaks to me when I least except it, but when I need it the most. Great shots. I always have fabric scraps around, great idea you have given. Have a wonderful Valentine.
How sweet you found a message with a special meaning for you! Love the combination of materials in your beads, the contrasts of colors and textures...love the metallic! Happy Valentine's Day!

I've never tried this before but heaven knows I have enough scraps saved to give it a whirl. They are just beautiful! Are they completely stiff when you remove the skewer?
I know exactly what you mean by divided loyalty. I have been cleaning up the gardens because the weather is so beautiful but my studio is calling me, too. Oh, to be so blessed with so many fun things calling out. I'm off today, too. Unfortunatley, I have some cleaning to catch up on (because I've been playing outside). Happy Valentines Day sweet Becca!

Gorgeous Becca! I love this idea, and what you have done with it - very creative and thrifty and beautiful, all at the same time. The colours look amazing in the picture so I can't imagine how great they would have looked all together in real life.
We're nowhere near working outside yet although yesterday we had some melting. There is still 6 foot snowbanks all around and teh backyard looks like winter will be here for many weeks to come. I suppose that gives me the perfect reason to stay inside and create!
Have a Happy valentine's Day - sounds like you're off to a good start!

Love your message from the pile of words... maybe that's why I love fortune cookies so much - I'm always looking for messages. The beads are beautiful - think how much fun you'll have adorning yourself with a long chain of them!
Happy V'Day!!!
I love the idea of the fabric beads! I always think...I should try that! You are very creative and hopefully one day it will rub off on me a little! Enjoy your evening! ♥
