Spring Fever

Wow, spring is finally here! What a beautiful weekend this has been. There are so many projects that need attending to indoors, but I just can't bring myself to spend the day inside! The early mornings are still cool and breezy so I'll just sit here for a "minute" with my cup of coffee and read the paper while I water the plants. The "minute" turns in to a couple of hours and the paper turns into a good book. Ok, I'll run inside and put a load of laundry in, that way I'll feel like I'm getting something done. Humm...it's afternoon now, a perfect time to make some "sun tea." I'll just sit under the umbrella with my book and wait for the tea to be ready. After all, that's not enough time to start another big project indoors, and I'll just have one glass of iced tea with fresh mint while I wait for the laundry. Well, I did finish a load of laundry and folded the clothes while I filled my second glass of iced-tea. Ooh, what's that smell? Oh yes, the BBQ. Russ is making dinner. I'd better go back outside and see if he needs any help. I'll take him a glass of iced-tea and we can sit on the swing and talk and wait for our burgers to get done. After all, there is always next weekend...maybe the weather will be bad.

Watercolor on Tea Bags

Hello Friends!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend, especially  if this is a long weekend for you!  It seems like I've been drinking a lot of tea lately, so I  thought it was time to get out my tea bags  and get creative!  This is a mixed-media piece on watercolor paper. First, I tore pieces of the tea bags and glued them to the  watercolor paper to start my background. This is another piece I started just today where I decided to use a rubber stamp before applying the tea bags for added interest.  I love the color and texture the tea bags create.  After the background was dry, I started to sketch out my design.   The dragonfly is a rubber stamp. Finally, a little simple hand stitching on linen for added texture. The light was so beautiful and inviting on my desk today. Oh, and don't you just love my new pencil box I got at the  second-hand store for 97 cents?

The Art of A Rain Chain

"Art"   is probably not the first word that comes to mind for most people when it rains.  If you have ever seen a  Rain Chain   then maybe you'll understand why I think of it this way.  copper, metal, patina, design, texture, beauty... peaceful,  mesmerizing... If you've read my blog for some time, you might remember, this "desert girl" is fascinated with  rain chains. :-) I'm still traveling...Seattle...it's raining... A Fresh Start

Greetings friends, Happy 2015!  The holidays came and went like a flash for me this year.  Since my last post, ("A Real Pumpkin Farm") Thanksgiving happened, I  celebrated the big 50th Birthday, then Christmas was here and gone before I  could catch my breath! Whew!  Last year, 2014, I started a photo a day challenge on Instagram and managed to finish  that without a hitch, Yay!    While I did meet lots of new friends and had a great time, I feel like I  neglected my blog, and that made me sad.   So, here I go 2015 slowly but surely making a fresh start!  Hopefully they'll still be a few of you out there that haven't given up on me.  *** This week is my MIL's birthday, so one of the gifts I have for her are these  crocheted, heart coasters I made.  (yes, I am STILL a crocheting, crazy cat lady) LOL!  Another project I finished is this afghan/throw I made for my  favorite reading
