Art Leaves

Autumn...

that time of year when I long to live somewhere with colorful leaves.

Since I can't make that move right now, I'll have to settle for making my own leaves.

I created my leaves with a mixture of paint, paper, and fabric.

I love to paint on fabric.

This project was small enough that I was able to just use scraps I had on hand.

In fact, some of the texture you see here is from coffee dyed dryer sheets.
If I didn't like the brightness of the paint or fabric I just applied part of the dryer sheet to tone it down.

Then, stitching randomly to add interest.

...and finally, some copper wire to hang my leaves.

I love how my Art Leaves turned out.
I might even consider putting them into my new Etsy Shop, but I'm still trying to figure all that out.

I'm joining my friends again at
So many beautiful artists there, please check it out.

I love your creativity and that you used different media. Great job, I definitely would use that, not as leaves, but as my dolls dress (I make cloth dolls). Blessings, Janet PPF

Becca, your leaves are amazing, and so very beautiful- I think I have to try using those dryer sheets for something, also. Your colours are so lovely-and thanks for the almost tutorial, :)

Oh my gosh Becca! Your fabric leaves are absolutely gorgeous! I can see a whole bunch of them hanging from a twig tree in a lovely face. What a beautiful display that would make. Like you, I miss the changing of the seasons -- our weather is changing, but everything looks the same. And when weather is dreary, it just makes the desert so much more drab than usual. Give me bright blue skies and sunshine any ol' day. Hope you have a fabulous Friday. Tammy
That is such a wonderful creative idea. :) The autumn is not what it's suppose to be this year so don't feel bad for not seeing leaves change. :)

What a wonderful idea--no colorful leaves, make your own! These are simply GORGEOUS, Becca! I love the mix of media you used to create these, and those metallic-looking threads...*swoon*... A leaf mobile could be something...hhhmmm... Tomorrow hubby will be away at a music seminar, and I plan on a girlie day in my studio to paint. We've been dealing with some loss lately, so my heart wasn't in much. But the art heartstrings are stirring again. ;o) I will send you the newsletter tonight. Happy Weekend, my friend ((HUGS))
