Desert Snow

A rare, and beautiful site in the desert.

I took a short drive to the desert right behind my home.
Most of the earlier snow was already melting, but once I got out of my car
there was something calming about walking around this vast desert area,  alone with my camera, taking photos of this rarity.
The atmosphere was peaceful, tranquil and serene.  The crisp air felt good to me, it was like new and fresh.
The only sound I noticed was the "crunching" of the desert floor beneath my boots and the sweet sound of my camera shutter.

Here is a link if you are interested in some footage of our snow in Las Vegas

It's been hard getting back to work after such a restful two weeks off, but I'm hoping to get caught up with all of you over the weekend sometime.

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Becca

Lovely photos of the snow blanketing the desert. I miss the look of the desert cactus no matter the time of year, but don't miss the summer's heat.

Beautiful pictures. My friends in northern states make fun of my snow pictures. One called our White Christmas 6 inches a dribble.
But sometimes I think that surprise snow in an arean not known for it is so much prettier.

I really love your pictures.

What beautiful photos.. I wished we got a little on our side of town. I always think it's so weird how we live so close but our weather is so different. I love the shot of the low cloud.. Take care my friend..

These photos of the desert are so fascinating to me Becca! Wow!
I have so many questions about it.
It is nice to see that it has been untouched and not developed by subdivisions. Are you able to walk in the desert and what type of wild life lurks around?
And as always you have choosen the perfect music for this post!!!

We took snow pictures also, but they are gorgeous like the ones you captured. I am also in the desert of CA and it is always a surprize to see the white stuff! Happy new Year!

Oh my, how beautiful is this - and how odd to see desert plants with snow.
Becca, these pictures are so beautiful! You inspired me to get Photoshop, and now I just have to get my operating system upgraded on Monday and then I will be able to try a few things - next stop - a new camera. One thing at a time though as my brain seems to be able to process only so much at a time.
Thanks for sharing these, once again, you've given me another dose of inspiration!

Hi Becca, I thought about you when I heard it had snowed in Las Vegas. It took me awhile to get around to stopping by your blog to see if you caught it on film. Your photos are beautiful.
